GM vaccines recombine into unpredictable hybrid

From Seeds of Deception

Genetically engineered pox viruses in cell cultures recombined with natural viruses to create new viruses with unpredictable and potentially dangerous characteristics.

In what may be the first experiment of its kind, scientists infected cell cultures with two related viruses. One was a genetically engineered poxvirus, (vaccinia virus (VIC) with a transgene from the influenza virus). The other was a naturally occurring relative of the first virus, isolated from Norwegian wildlife. Both were orthopoxviruses. The two viruses interacted and created many new hybrid viruses by recombination. The characteristics of some of the new viruses included traits not expressed in either parent virus. Some viruses, for example, spread faster than either parent, while others produced different, more serious cell culture changes. A single virus multiplied into hundreds of thousands of viruses in a few hours, with unpredictable consequences. Since the marker gene in the transgenic virus was not present in some of the newly formed hybrid viruses, it would not be possible to track transgenic viruses as the origin of the hybrids, if they were found in the wild.

In a second series of experiments, various mammalian cell lines were infected with avipoxviruses. In some cell lines, the avipoxviruses were able to perform full multiplication. This was previously considered to be impossible. The assumption that avipoxviruses were incapable of full multiplication was used as a basis for safety claims of vaccines using avipoxviruses.

Implications for human health

Orthoviruses are used for vaccinations of humans and domestic animals, as non-target vaccinations for wildlife reservoirs of human diseases (such as rabies in the wild), and for sterilization of mammals. In 1999, for example, an orthopoxvirus engineered as a vaccine to combat rabies was inoculated into chicken remnants (heads) and spread as bait throughout the border between France and Belgium. Local mammals, including the target animal, the red fox, then ate the chicken parts. Based on the findings above, it is theoretically possible that if natural viruses similar to the rabies vaccine also infected those mammals, they may have become hosts to new transgenic hybrids. The hybrids might possibly threaten mammals, humans, and the ecosystem.

Transgenic avipoxviruses are used as vaccines. Several studies on avipoxviruses declare them safe, claiming that they do not multiply in mammalian cells. This new finding contradicts that claim and calls into question the safety of using these viruses in humans and other mammals.

Study confirms fluoride toxic in tiny amounts

By WC Douglass MD

If the fastest way to rot a kid's mind is with TV and junk food, the slow method involves plain old water.

Thank your government for that.

The fluoride intentionally dumped into your water is a neurotoxin so powerful that a new study finds it can have devastating effects in concentrations as low as 1 part per million.

That's so thoroughly diluted it's positively homeopathic, folks -- and it's right smack in the middle of the target used by the feds for years (and just a fraction of what many people still get with every sip, by the way).

Mexican researchers examined data from 18 studies on humans and animals and found that prolonged exposure -- like, say, a lifelong presence in your drinking glass -- "may cause significant damage to health and particularly to the nervous system."

The review also confirms what I've been saying since the 1960s: Fluoride has the power to cross the blood-brain barrier.

That means once it's in your system, it has a free pass to run roughshod through your noggin -- and the researchers wrote in Neurologia that fluoride damage in the brain is similar to that of Alzheimer's disease, according to animal studies.

That could help explain the dramatic rise in this disease in recent generations.

But the biggest fluoride risk isn't among seniors -- it's among children, because this stuff is proven to make kids dumber than a knock-knock joke.

And because fluoride works so slowly, you may not even notice the damage... not at first anyway.

Then, one day, you wake up and realize the only way your kid is getting into college is by getting a job there… as a janitor.

Don't get me wrong -- the world needs its janitors. But if you don't want your kids and grandkids to be among them, keep them away from fluoridated water, toothpaste, mouthwash, and anything else that contains this poison.

The most effective way to do that is with a reverse-osmosis water filter.

Attach it where the water enters your home, and every tap will be clean, safe and fluoride-free.

FDA Faults Merck Plant For Charred Shrink Wrap In Vaccine Vials

By Peter Loftus
Dow Jones Newswires

- Charred bits of plastic shrink wrap found in some vials of Merck vaccines

- Merck said it is still working to resolve the problem

- Company said it isn't aware of any adverse health events from the issue

(Adds vaccine sales details in sixth paragraph.)

Charred bits of plastic shrink wrap have been found in vials of Merck & Co. (MRK) vaccines, the latest quality problem identified by U.S. regulators at the company's biggest vaccine-making plant and an issue the drug maker said it is still working to resolve.

Merck said it isn't aware of any adverse health events associated with the problem, and that it is confident in the safety and efficacy of its products. The affected vaccines included Gardasil for the prevention of HPV infection, Varivax for chicken pox, Pneumovax for pneumococcal disease, Zostavax for shingles and MMR II for measles, mumps and rubella.

In 2008, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a formal warning letter about deficiencies at Merck's West Point, Pa., plant. Since then, FDA inspection reports have cited more problems: the presence of metal particles in certain products, cracks in vaccine vials and delays in Merck's reporting to the FDA of adverse events from products made at the plant.

The Whitehouse Station, N.J., company said it has resolved most of the issues, and none have resulted in a subsequent FDA warning letter to date. Dow Jones Newswires obtained the inspection reports, known as Form 483s, from the FDA under the Freedom of Information Act.

"We do have a complex operation," said James Robinson, vice president of vaccines product and technical operations. "What we are seeing is that the severity and criticality of observations [by FDA inspectors] are declining. What we've seen in the last few inspections tells us we're on the right track."

Merck reported 2010 vaccine sales of about $3.8 billion, or roughly 8% of total company sales; the figures exclude certain vaccines marketed outside the U.S. in a Merck joint venture with Sanofi SA (SNY, SAN.FR).

The drug industry has experienced a series of manufacturing-quality difficulties in recent years, which observers have blamed on aging equipment and budget cuts. Merck and others have responded partly by building new plants and renovating existing ones.

At Merck's West Point plant, pieces of protective shrink wrap on some incoming glass vials weren't removed during washing and were subsequently charred during a heat-based sterilization process, according to an FDA inspection report in April. Some of these vials made their way into customers' hands.

Since November 2009, Merck has submitted to the FDA at least 12 reports of the charred shrink wrap being found in vaccines, according to the FDA report. Eight arose from consumer complaints, and four stemmed from Merck's internal sample testing.

Merck has responded by switching from shrink-wrap to plastic or cardboard trays for incoming vials for a majority of its products, Robinson said.

But in its April inspection report, the FDA said shrink wrap was still being used for some incoming vials, which the agency said made Merck's initial response inadequate. Robinson said Merck expected to abandon shrink wrap on all incoming vials by year's end.

The FDA report also said patient safety risks associated with the charred shrink wrap couldn't be ruled out. Robinson said there have been no reports of adverse events associated with the shrink wrap.

FDA spokeswoman Shelly Burgess said the appearance of any foreign item in an injectable product is a concern.

In May, Merck sent a letter to doctors advising them to be on the lookout for brown particles in its vaccines as well as in vials of Antivenin, a treatment for black-widow spider bites. Merck said small pieces of the shrink wrap, which it called an "inert carbon material," can stick to the inside of product vials and turn brown during the sterilization process.

Merck said use of products containing particles could lead to injection-site reactions, but it shouldn't affect sterility or potency. Merck said the brown particles have been observed in very rare cases, a reported rate of less than one in six million vials overall.

Other FDA inspection findings included the following:

- In August 2010, an FDA inspector accused Merck of not reporting to the agency certain adverse events associated with patients' use of its drugs within the required 15 calendar days.

Robinson said Merck is working to improve its on-time reporting of adverse events, and that it currently exceeds the industry average. Some adverse events are reported late because they take longer to investigate, he said.

- In February 2009, an inspector cited the presence of metal particles in certain products, as well as cracked vials. The report said Merck should have done more to investigate and address the causes of these problems. Also, Merck had received complaints from doctors regarding bubbling and foaming in vials of certain vaccines.

Robinson said the issues raised in the February 2009 report have been resolved.

Hungary destroys all GMO maize fields

Animal Feed News

Some 400 hectares of maize found to have been grown with genetically modified seeds have been destroyed throughout Hungary deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos Bognar said.
The GMO maize has been ploughed under, said Lajos Bognar, but pollen has not spread from the maize, he added. Unlike several EU members, GMO seeds are banned in Hungary.

Authorities have been checking for GMO crops since the beginning of this year as a new regulation came in force this March which stipulates GMO checks before seeds are introduced to the market.

The checks will continue despite the fact that seed traders are obliged to make sure that their products are GMO free, Bognar said.

Compensation unlikely

Controllers have found Pioneer and Monsanto products among the seeds planted. The free movement of goods within the EU means that authorities will not investigate how the seeds arrived in Hungary but they will check where the goods can be found, Bognar said.

Regional public radio reported that the two biggest international seed producing companies are affected in the matter and GMO seeds could have been sown on up to thousands of hectares in the country.

Local farmers complain that the use of GMO seeds has only been revealed now when it is too late to sow again and the entire year's harvest has been lost.

Another problem is that the company that distributed the seeds in Baranya county is under liquidation, therefore if any compensation is paid by the international seed producers, the money will be paid primarily to that company's creditors, rather than the farmers.

Hungary to continue battle against GMO seeds

Source: Xinhua

Hungarian authorities is planning to make distribution of genetically modified (GM) seeds a felony, an agriculture official said here Thursday, in its latest attempt to secure a GM-free country.

In a press conference held Thursday in Budapest, Lajos Bognar, Hungary deputy state secretary responsible for keeping track of the food chain, said the government was planning to introduce an amendment to the Penal Code, making distribution of GMO-contaminated seed a felony offense.

The development came just days after some 950 hectares of corn found to have grown with genetically modified seeds were destroyed throughout Hungary last week.

Bognar said as many as 2,500 hectares could have been contaminated by the GM seeds, and all must be destroyed, he said, adding that Hungary had zero tolerance for genetically modified organisms.

Scientists find a mass of synthetic chemicals in every glass of milk

By Christina Luisa
Natural News

(Natural News) When you wake up and go to the kitchen to pour yourself a cold glass of milk, it seems you are filling your body with calcium, vitamins, and an abundance of goodness. That seemingly white beverage may look innocent, but the hidden ingredients packed into the liquid that is a popular staple in the American diet are anything but.

According to a recent study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, scientists have found through analysis that one single glass of milk can contain a delightful (or not) medley of up to 20 different kinds of painkillers, antibiotics and growth hormones (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021...). These medicinal residues, found in samples of cow, goat, and human breast milk, are from a variety of chemicals used to treat animal and human illness.

This research revealed that cow, goat, and human breast milk tested for traces of numerous anti-inflammatory drugs such as niflumic acid, mefenamic acid, flunixin, ibuprofen, diclofenac and ketoprofen -- all of which are commonly used painkillers for animals and humans.

Traces of other drugs, such as lipid regulators, anti-epileptics, beta-blockers, antibiotics and various hormones (such as ethinylestradiol and estrone) were found as well.

A total of 20 pharmacologically active substances were found in the various types of milk in the study. The highest quantities of drug residues and hormones were found in cow's milk. Researchers used an extremely sensitive testing method, called Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, in order to ensure the testing was successful and accurate.

According to an online article (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...), the milk tested also contained the hormone 17-beta-estradiol, a form of the sex hormone oestrogen.

This hormone was detected at three millionths of a gram in every kilogram of milk, while the highest dose of niflumic acid was less than one millionth of a gram per kilogram of milk. The scientists running the test, led by Dr Evaristo Ballesteros from the University of Jaen in Spain, said their testing method could also be used to check the safety of other types of food.

The amount of these drugs found in milk may have be minute; however, the research results make it entirely too clear how prevalent man-made substances, drugs, and chemicals really are in our food chain.

Researchers believe that the growth-promoting hormones and drugs are all given to cattle and cows at some point, or are often present within contaminated cattle feed.

But wait, there's more. Suffice it to say, everything you know about cow's milk and dairy in general is most likely part of a dairy industry myth. In general, cow's milk is a tainted bodily fluid from diseased animals that contains a wide range of dangerous and disease-causing substances. Here are some further reasons to avoid it altogether.

It can cause and worsen cancer All cow's milk (both regular and "organic") has 59 active hormones, countless allergens, lots of fat (unless it is skim) and cholesterol. Most cow's milk also has perceptible quantities of herbicides, pesticides, dioxins up to 200 times the safe levels of dioxins, up to 53 powerful antibiotics, blood, pus, feces, bacteria and viruses (http://www.rense.com/general26/trut...). This milk can potentially have traces of anything the cow ate or was exposed to during its lifespan, including such things as residue from radioactive materials.

Of those 59 mentioned hormones, one is a powerful growth hormone called Insulin- like Growth Factor ONE (IGF-1). This hormone is essentially a "fuel cell" for any cancer. In fact, it has been proven that IGF-1 is the key factor in the growth and proliferation of every breast cancer; the medical world has clearly stated that IGF-1 is not only a key factor in the rapid growth and increase of prostate and colon cancers, but is suspect to promote and worsen ALL cancers, including those that are existing.

This is especially significant considering nearly 40% of women between the ages 40 and 50 have existing cancer in their breasts. The naturally-occurring hormone is identical in humans and cows, and every 12 ounce glass of milk doubles the amount of this hormone in your body. IGF-1 is linked not only to rising cancer rates, but the growth of antibiotic resistant bacteria.

IGF-1 is a normal part of all milk -- and while newborns are supposed to grow quickly, what makes the 50% of obese American consumers(or any adult consumer in general) think they need substances that cause MORE growth? If the residual hormones in milk aren't enough to scare you away from milk, surely the amount of other drugs, man-made chemicals, and dioxins are.

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 90% of the dioxins entering the human body come from dairy products and meat. Considering dioxins are some of the most toxic chemicals known to science, and the EPA has published a report confirming they are cancer hazards to humans, should we really be purposely ingesting substances known to contain them?

It isn't a good source of calcium? Contrary to popular belief, commercially sold milk is not the best way to get calcium. According to (notmilk.com), American women have been consuming an average of 2 pounds of milk per day throughout the course of their lives, yet 30 million American women have osteoporosis. Ingesting dairy products and drinking milk does not prevent bone loss; in fact, bone loss is expedited by consuming an excess of protein, and milk has often been labeled "liquid meat."

After all, where do the cows get calcium for their big bones? You guessed it... from plants! The calcium they consume from plants has a large amount of magnesium, which is necessary for the body to absorb and actually use the calcium properly.

The calcium in cow's milk, and in dairy products in general, is basically useless because it has insufficient magnesium content. Those nations with the highest amount of milk and dairy consumption also have the highest rates of osteoporosis. Proof? How about a controlled study of 78,000 nurses over a period of 12 years? (http://www.notmilk.com/deb/030799.html) In this Harvard study, women that were consuming greater amounts of dairy foods had significantly increased risks of hip fractures, while there was no recorded increase in fracture risk observed for the same levels of calcium from nondairy sources.

The text of the anti-dairy advertising campaign from the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) specifically reads, "Don't count on milk to beat osteoporosis." The ad mentions the Harvard nurse study and how it proved drinking a few glasses of milk per day did not reduce fractures at all. PCRM's ad campaign is based upon two studies, one published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, and the other in the American Journal of Public Health. The campaign from PCRM refreshingly counteracts the infamous dairy industry"GOT MILK" ad nonsense.

Giving up dairy products, in other words, does not increase one's chances of suffering from a lack of calcium. What it does do is decrease the amount of synthetic chemicals, drugs, and harmful hormones being consumed. Good non-dairy sources of calcium include leafy green vegetables, orange and apple juice, beans, rice milk, tempeh, and calcium/magnesium supplements.Website for maintaining calcium levels through vegan sources: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/calciu...

The world from Berlin - The US is holding the whole world hostige

By David Gordon Smith
Spiegel Online

With no solution to the US debt crisis in sight, the rest of the world is starting to get nervous. German commentators urge congressional leaders to get their act together. A US default would have catastrophic consequences, they warn.

Both Moody's and Standard & Poor's are threatening to downgrade the country's debt amid fears of a national insolvency. But for once it is not a debt-stricken euro-zone member that has come into the crosshairs of the powerful rating agencies. This time it is the United States, the world's largest economy, that is at risk of going bust .

The US needs to raise its debt ceiling, currently set at $14.3 trillion (€10.1 trillion), by Aug. 2, otherwise the country will run out of money. But negotiations between President Barack Obama and top Republicans and Democrats have so far failed to make progress.

Obama has now given congressional leaders until Saturday morning to reconsider their positions. "It's decision time. We need concrete plans to move this forward," Obama said on Thursday, the fifth day of talks, following an inconclusive negotiating session.

Financial markets, which have previously viewed the negotiations with calm, are beginning to get nervous amid fears that Republicans and Democrats may be unable to reach an agreement by Aug. 2. Any default on the part of the US could have incalculable effects on global financial markets and could hurt the fragile recovery in the US. Moody's and Standard & Poor's have warned they may cut the country's top AAA credit rating if a solution isn't reached.

Republicans want any increase in the debt ceiling to be met by spending cuts equal to the same amount, as well as more serious efforts by the government to address the debt problem. Democrats are open to certain cuts but want tax increases in return. With presidential elections coming up in 2012, neither side wants to be seen as ceding ground.

On Friday, German commentators react with concern to the ongoing stalemate.

The center-right Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung writes:

"The bitter debate in Washington about raising the debt ceiling has largely left the financial markets cold. … The market players apparently expect that an agreement will be reached in time. That's the only possible explanation for their surprisingly calm response."

"We can only hope that the top politicians in Washington take Moody's warning seriously, despite the relaxed response from the financial markets so far. A US default and a lower credit rating would … send stock prices through the floor and could choke off America's economic recovery -- with global repercussions. The politicians in Washington are playing with fire. A swift compromise is needed. Nobody needs a US default."

The center-left Süddeutsche Zeitung writes:

"It's actually unimaginable. On August 2, the US could, for the first time in its history, become insolvent because the Republican majority in the House of Representatives refuses to raise the ceiling on the national debt. But until now, everyone is acting as if it will all be OK and the politicians in Washington will come to their senses in time."

"The Republicans are playing with fire. Nobody can imagine what the repercussions might be if the unthinkable happens and the US is suddenly no longer a safe haven for investors. Anything is possible, from a small, barely perceptible amount of turbulence in the financial markets to a global panic. Congress should think carefully about what it is doing."

The conservative Die Welt writes:

"In this period of competing debt crises, America and Europe are looking at each other in amazement, with each side understanding less and less about what is happening on the other side of the Atlantic. While Europe's chaos is obvious to the Europeans and the rest of the world, there are few signs of self-doubt or self-awareness in the US. In the middle of the poker game between the two political parties to prevent a national default on Aug. 2, polls show that 77 percent of Americans believe that they live in the world's greatest system of government. Just as many are convinced that life is only worth living as an American."

"Democrats and Republicans are so hopelessly embroiled in a religious war that compromise and pragmatism are just dreams from a far-off era of reason. … The influence of the Tea Party movement … can not be overestimated. … The movement sees traditional politics as corrupt and regards Washington as a den of iniquity. … They see the other side as their enemy. Negotiations with the Democrats, whether it's about appointing a judge or the insolvency of the United States, are only successful if the enemy is defeated. Compromise, they feel, is a sign of weakness and cowardice."

The business daily Handelsblatt writes:

"Washington still considers a default to be unimaginable. Obama does not want to go down in history as the president who bankrupted America, so the only alternative is another unsavory deal -- the 'kick the can down the road' solution, as American politicians like to call it. The debt limit will be raised again just before the impending volcanic eruption, exacerbating the problem and postponing an attempt to solve the problem (of the US's enormous debt) to the next, not too distant deadline. Investors are also counting on this scenario. That is the only explanation for the relative calm on the market for US government bonds."

"That will change if the European Union crisis countries manage to sort out their finances, while the US continues with its debt delusions. Then the markets will soon achieve what the politicians have failed to do -- and force the US into an era of belt-tightening."

The mass-circulation Bild writes:

"Playing poker is part of politics, as is theatrical posturing. That's fair enough. But what America is currently exhibiting is the worst kind of absurd theatrics. And the whole world is being held hostage."

"Irrespective of what the correct fiscal and economic policy should be for the most powerful country on earth, it's simply not possible to stop taking on new debt overnight. Most importantly, the Republicans have turned a dispute over a technicality into a religious war, which no longer has any relation to a reasonable dispute between the elected government and the opposition."

"If it continues like this, the US will be bankrupt within a few days. It would cause a global shockwave like the one which followed the Lehman bankruptcy in 2008, which triggered the worst economic crisis since the war. Except it would be much worse than the Lehman bankruptcy. The political climate in the US has been poisoned to a degree that is hard for us (Germans) to imagine. But we should all fear the consequences."

HIV - test

The AIDS investigation

By Liam Scheff

Question: Is the AIDS industry honest?

Ask yourself if you have ever heard this, or anything like this before:

“We can be exposed to HIV many times without being chronically infected. Our immune system will get rid of the virus within a few weeks, if you have a good immune system.”

Who said it? Luc Montagnier, 2008 Nobel Prize winner for ‘discovering HIV,’ (quoted in “House of Numbers,” 2009). But he’s been saying things like this for years. In the film, he goes on to agree that that Africans who are helped out of poverty (fed and given clean water, etc) can overcome the infection.

How about this?

We followed up 175 HIV-discordant couples [one partner tests positive, one negative] over time, for a total of approximately 282 couple-years of follow up… No transmission [of HIV] occurred among the 25% of couples who did not use their condoms consistently, nor among the 47 couples who intermittently practiced unsafe sex during the entire duration of follow-up…”

We observed no seroconversions after entry into the study [nobody became HIV positive]…This evidence argues for low infectivity in the absence of either needle sharing and/or other cofactors.”

That is, 175 mixed (HIV positive/negative) couples had sex – anal and vaginal – for 6 years, with and without condoms, and nobody who was negative became positive.

Dr. Nancy Padian, the researcher who ran that study out of U.C. Berkeley, was also in “House of Numbers.” She said that HIV was one of the hardest viruses to transmit, and added that ‘everybody knows that.’

So, I’ll ask again:

Is the AIDS industry honest? Is it even close to honest? Is it transparent? Do you ever hear statements like these in the media? Would you like to know why?

If so, you’ll have to brave being attacked in print and word, by – you guessed it – the AIDS industry. Those who ask questions are smeared and libeled in the press, even for exploring or exposing publicly available information from the standard medical literature. The AIDS pharma goon squad (and there surely is one) will call you an “AIDS Denialist” if you dare poke your critical thinking past their threshold….

How do I know this? Because I have bothered to do exactly so. I have written critically about AIDS, and found it to be a violently corrupted industry, ruled by absurdly bad science – science infused and infected by the discredited racist science of the early 20th Century – Eugenics – but most strongly resembling Apartheid, in its construction.

If I told you that we in the West would find a way to put sexual restrictions on Africans, interfere with their childbirth and fertility, speculate anxiously at the pathogenic nature of the normative sex of homosexual men, drug massive populations with immensely toxic drugs that shorten life expectancy, damage and kill children and adults – would you assume I was talking about a science fiction novel?

What if I told you that you, yourself, would contribute to this program, wear its symbol, buy clothes that supported it, attend fundraisers, and openly praise the individuals whose obsession was this pseudo-scientific interference in the sex lives of the poor, African and homosexual populations of the world?

Maybe that’s too much to consider… but ask yourself, why are we obsessed with the sexual aspect of what we now call AIDS? Ask yourself why you’ve never read the Padian study. Why it’s excised from the Wikipedia page on AIDS – why this, the longest study of its kind, is censored in the media?

Ask yourself what Luc Montagnier is talking about, when he talks about improving the immune system of AIDS patients, in order to help them ‘get rid of the virus,’ and recover…

But be warned, you may quickly find yourself turning into an “AIDS Denialist,” at least, according to the goon squad.

But don’t sweat it…you’ll be in good company.

Media Already Marginalizing Ron Paul Presidential Campaign‏

By the National Inflation Association

We are at the very beginning of our nation's most important Presidential election season in history. Historically in all Presidential elections, taxation has always been one of the top issues. The Republicans always call for lower taxes, while the Democrats say we should tax the rich more and cut taxes on the poor and middle class. The truth is, taxation today means nothing when the real U.S. budget deficit is now more than twice the government's total tax receipts. Taxation is used to distract U.S. citizens as the Federal Reserve prints trillions of dollars out of thin air, stealing from the incomes and savings of all Americans.

NIA's number one goal during the next year is to educate as many Americans as possible to the truth about the U.S. economy so that come the 2012 Republican primaries and general Presidential election, inflation is the number one issue on everybody's minds. During the 2008 Presidential debates between President Obama and John McCain, Obama did not use the word inflation once. McCain used the word inflation only a handful of times, but spoke about taxation nearly one hundred times. When McCain mentioned inflation, he said that we need to make it easier for students to borrow larger amounts of money to attend college due to inflation, when it is actually the government's willingness to provide easy access to student loans that is causing tuition inflation.

In the 2008 Presidential election, Americans did not have a choice to vote for an anti-inflation candidate. Although polls in late-2008 indicated that the majority of U.S. citizens were against the government's bailouts of Wall Street and artificial stimulus bills, both Obama and McCain were in support of them. Despite Ron Paul doubling McCain's fundraising in the 4Q of 2007 and raising $20 million, ending the year with $7.8 million in cash on hand while McCain's campaign was broke and in debt, the mainstream media manipulated the minds of Americans into voting for McCain as the Republican nominee, when it is Ron Paul who would have put a stop to Congress' reckless, dangerous, and destructive spending that can only be paid for by borrowing and printing money.

Since Obama was elected President on November 4th, 2008, the U.S. dollar has lost 48% of its purchasing power. Americans today spend 48% more for gasoline than they did the day of the last election. Americans today also spend 105% more for sugar, 78% more for coffee, 58% more for corn, with similar gains for many other agricultural commodities. The U.S. government and Federal Reserve created all of this inflation in an attempt to reinflate the Real Estate bubble, yet the median U.S. home price declined by 2.4% during this time period. Meanwhile, the real unemployment rate has increased from 16.8% to 22.3%.

The media worked tirelessly in 2008 to marginalize Ron Paul's Presidential campaign. After every Republican candidate debate, FOX News would have a text message and online voting poll on who won the debate. Ron Paul would overwhelmingly win most of the polls, with hundreds of thousands of people voting, yet the FOX News hosts wouldn't give credit to Ron Paul for winning the debate. They instead would claim that their own poll was somehow compromised and manipulated by tech savvy Ron Paul supporters. Ron Paul supporters did not manipulate FOX News' polls, FOX News and the rest of the mainstream media manipulated the minds of their viewers into nominating John McCain who had the exact same viewpoints as Obama on every economic issue, except that Obama said he would tax the rich slightly more than McCain (big deal!).

The media is already beginning their massive campaign to marginalize Ron Paul's Presidential campaign for the Republican nomination in the 2012 election. After the first Republican debate on June 13th, Bill O'Reilly referred to a snap poll that declared Mitt Romney the winner with 51% of the vote and Ron Paul the loser with 0%. The very fine print on the screen said that 54 people voted in the poll that Bill O'Reilly was using to declare Romney the winner of the debate. So when hundreds of thousands of real voters support Ron Paul in a FOX News poll, the network's hosts downplay it and claim that their own poll was rigged; but when 54 Washington insiders vote for Romney and 0 vote for Ron Paul, Bill O'Reilly gives credibility to that poll in an attempt to influence his viewers into believing Ron Paul has no chance of being elected!

The mainstream media has already hand selected Romney to be their nominee in the 2012 election. No matter where you look this week, the headlines read that Romney raised $15 to $20 million in the second quarter, most of it coming from bankers on Wall Street. Meanwhile, Ron Paul has raised $4.5 million from grassroots supporters, more than Tim Pawlenty, Jon Huntsman, or anybody else that has reported so far, but nobody gives Ron Paul any credit. All of the articles written about Ron Paul call him a "long-shot", solely in an attempt to manipulate the minds of voters.

Romney's millions of dollars in donations are coming from those who benefited from the Federal Reserve's unconstitutional and criminal acts of stealing the wealth of hardworking middle-class Americans through inflation. Romney has made it very clear that he won't discuss the Federal Reserve and that he believes Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke is doing a good job. The fact is, unless we address the Federal Reserve and the endless monetary inflation they are creating, no other issues matter at all.

Some of the people who benefited from the Federal Reserve's bailouts are hedging their bets and not just supporting Romney, but are supporting all of the Republican candidates other than Ron Paul. Jack Welch, former Chairman of General Electric (GE), yesterday declared Romney, Pawlenty, and Huntsman the three "real contenders" in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination, saying that, "each of them has their pluses and minuses". Welch gave no mention of Ron Paul, despite the fact that he raised more money than Pawlenty and Huntsman last quarter. Welch in the same interview called Bernanke a "hero during the crisis". After all, GE would have gone bankrupt due to Welch's reckless management of the company if it wasn't for the U.S. government backing $139 billion of GE's debt during the financial crisis.

Bill O'Reilly has been trying to portray Ron Paul as some kind of a lunatic, when O'Reilly is clearly uneducated about the economic issues that matter today. In a shocking display of just how incompetent O'Reilly is, he recently played a clip of Ron Paul speaking at the June 13th debate about how the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency has become our main export in return for all of the real products we import from countries like China and Japan. O'Reilly said he was "very confused" by what Ron Paul was saying. O'Reilly apparently thinks this is normal and will be sustainable continuously forever. To see this shocking video of O'Reilly's incompetence, simply go to our recent blog posting at: http://inflation.us/blog/2011/06/bill-oreilly-clueless-about-economics-and-inflation/

Glenn Beck, the only person in the mainstream media who has called NIA a credible organization and has referenced our food inflation report on the air on many occasions, recently left FOX News to start his own Internet television network. With Glenn Beck leaving FOX News, the balance of power has now shifted. If you combine all of the major alternative media organizations on the Internet, they now have larger reach than the mainstream media news organizations on television. Due to this shift in power, NIA now truly believes that a candidate like Ron Paul has a chance of actually winning the 2012 Presidential election.

In order for our movement to succeed in electing a real President like Ron Paul in 2012, we must all work together. Americans need to realize that the real war isn't CNN, MSNBC, and the Democrats vs. FOX News and the Republicans. The real information war is alternative news organizations on the Internet that speak the truth along with politicians who believe in Austrian economics and protecting the U.S. Constitution vs. CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, the New York Times, Time Magazine, and the rest of the mainstream media, which spread false propaganda in order to support the Democrats and Republicans that have been brainwashed by our nation's colleges with Keynesian economic principles, and have put our nation on the brink of hyperinflation.

It is important to spread the word about NIA to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, if you want America to survive hyperinflation. Please tell everybody you know to become members of NIA for free immediately at: http://inflation.us

Thom Hartmann: The Story of the 5 Kings Who Rule America

America does not belong to Kings - she belongs to the people. It's time for Congress and our President to step up and put the Supreme Court back on equal footing with the rest of our branches of government. They need to pass a law ending Judicial Review - take that power away from the Supreme Court - and restore the vision that our founding fathers had of America - a nation where 5 unelected guys in black robes couldn't make or kill the laws of the land.

US Supreme Court Refuses to Allow Abu Ghraib Torture Victims to Sue Military Contractors

By Andy Worthington

With what can only come across as cynical timing, the US Supreme Court on Monday, the day after the UN International Day in Support of the Victims of Torture, declined without comment to take up a lawsuit filed on behalf of 250 Iraqis — formerly prisoners at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad, home of the most significant scandal in the Bush administration’s “War on Terror,” which surfaced in April 2004 with the publication of photos showing the torture and abuse of Iraqi prisoners in US custody at the prison. The prisoners were seeking to hold Titan Corporation, which provided Arabic translation services, and CACI International, which provided interrogators, accountable for their role in the torture and abuse of prisoners at Abu Ghraib in 2003 and 2004.

Although a handful of serving US military personnel — eleven in total, referred to by President Bush as “a few bad apples” — were prosecuted for the abuse at Abu Ghraib, they were, in fact, scapegoated for implementing a policy that came from the highest levels of government, and which was designed to ensure that all aspects of the detention regime were dependant upon the whims of interrogators — as at Guantánamo, from where the system was exported by its commander, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller, who was sent to “Gitmoize” Abu Ghraib with the results that the world saw to its horror in April 2004.

The case that was shunned by the Supreme Court on Monday, Saleh v. Titan Corporation, was an important attempt to extend accountability from the military to the contractors who make up such a huge part of America’s post-9/11 war machine, and who, unlike their official military counterparts, appear to be as much beyond the law as the senior administration officials — and their lawyers — who implemented, approved and oversaw every aspect of the “War on Terror” that should have shocked the conscience — involving torture, “extraordinary rendition,” secret prisons and the miseries of arbitrary detention at Guantánamo. As Human Rights First explained, “Army investigations implicated at least five private contractors in similar crimes,” although “no contractor was ever charged.”

In dismissing the case, the Supreme Court has ensured that the final word on contractors’ responsibilities rests with the D.C. Circuit Court, the appeals court in Washington D.C. that is populated by several notable right-wing ideologues who have been steadily demolishing the habeas corpus rights of the Guantánamo prisoners over the last 18 months until the “Great Writ” has been rendered meaningless. The judges include Senior Judge A. Raymond Randolph, notorious for backing every piece of legislation relating to Guantánamo under the Bush administration that was subsequently overturned by the Supreme Court.

For the Abu Ghraib ruling, another of Randolph’s aged colleagues, Senior Judge Laurence Silberman — also responsible for outrageous outbursts about Guantánamo, masquerading as legal opinion — led a panel that ruled, by two votes to one in September 2009, that “claims against the contractors were precluded under a doctrine the two majority judges called ‘battlefield preemption,’” as the Christian Science Monitor described it, or, as Human Rights First put it, that “the contractors were involved in combat activities and therefore, should be protected from lawsuits.”

In the Circuit Court’s majority opinion, Judge Silberman wrote, “During wartime, where a private service contractor is integrated into combatant activities over which the military retains command authority, a tort claim [for damages] arising out of the contractor’s engagement in such activities shall be preempted.”

Silberman also regarded it as significant that, although the government acted swiftly to prosecute military personnel in connection with the torture and abuse at Abu Ghraib, it failed to tackle contractors for their role. “This fact alone,” he wrote, “indicates the government’s perception of the contract employees’ role in the Abu Ghraib scandal.”

The Christian Science Monitor also explained:

The appeals court also ruled that the former Iraqi detainees were not empowered under the Alien Tort Statute to file a lawsuit in a US court seeking to enforce a violation of the law of nations. The judges said that although torture committed by a government is a violation of a settled international norms, the same act by a private contractor is not.

Judge Silberman claimed, “Congress has never created this cause of action,” stating that, although Congress had “empowered US residents to sue foreign governments for torture,” as the Christian Science Monitor described it, “federal law makers excluded from the law the possibility of filing a similar suit against American military officials overseas, or private individuals working with the US government overseas.”

In the important dissenting opinion, which should have provided an avenue for the Supreme Court to follow, Judge Merrick Garland noted that he would have allowed the Iraqis’ lawsuit to proceed against both Titan and CACI, declaring:

No act of Congress and no judicial precedent bars the plaintiffs from suing the private contractors –- who were neither soldiers nor civilian government employees. Neither President Obama nor President Bush nor any other executive branch officials has suggested that subjecting the contractors to tort liability for the conduct at issue here would interfere with the nation’s foreign policy or the executive’s ability to wage war. To the contrary, the Department of Defense has repeatedly stated that employees of private contractors accompanying the Armed Forces in the field are NOT within the military’s chain of command, and that such contractors ARE subject to civil liability.

Following the Circuit Court’s ruling in September 2009, Human Rights First’s International Legal Director Gabor Rona stated, “This decision, which was supported by the Obama administration, informs the world that the United States of America has no intention of obeying its moral and legal obligation to provide enforceable remedies to victims of sadistic acts of torture alleged to have been committed by military contractors.” Human Rights First also noted, “Under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT), the United States must provide ‘enforceable’ or ‘effective’ remedies to victims for acts of torture and serious abuse.”

In their brief urging the Supreme Court to take up the case, the Iraqis’ lawyers were, of course, aware of these issues, although they specifically made a point of mentioning how private contractors outnumber official US personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq, and how allowing the Circuit Court’s ruling to stand allows them to break the law with impunity.

“There are 217,832 contractor personnel providing services to the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan, answering not to the military chain of command but to for-profit corporations who receive a total of over $5 billion annually for their services,” Vincent Parrett wrote in the brief to the court. “This is a case about the commission of war crimes by private actors who violated state, federal, and international law,” he added, pointing out, crucially, that the Circuit Court’s holding “has eviscerated one of the most effective means of deterring them from violating the law.”

In response to the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the case, which was largely ignored in the mainstream US media, Human Rights First issued a press release deploring the decision, and noting the unusual circumstances that preceded the decision, whereby, “[b]efore deciding whether or not to hear the case, the Supreme Court asked the US government, which is not a party to the suit, its opinion on the case,” and that the government, “[w]hile noting the shortcomings of the appellate court’s ruling … recommended that the Court should decline to hear the case, effectively denying victims a remedy.”

In a specific criticism of the Supreme Court decision, which I endorse fully, Gabor Rona stated:

Last week on the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, President Obama proclaimed that the United States “will remain a leader in the effort to end torture around the world and to address the needs of torture victims.” Nothing undermines the credibility of the United States as a voice for human rights and for respect for the rule of law more than its hypocritical dismissal of the suffering of torture victims at the hands of the US government and its agents.

Note: Also see Human Rights First’s amicus brief arguing that the decision by the D.C. Circuit to immunize the criminal conduct of private military contractors is incompatible with the United States’ international legal obligations, and Human Rights First’s letter to the Acting Solicitor General, in March this year, urging the government to advise the Court to hear the case and reverse the decision that denies victims a remedy.

Basics of the Human Immune System Prior to Introduction of Vaccines: Are Vaccines Turning Our Children’s Immune Systems Inside Out? Part 2

By Harold E Buttram, MD and Catherine J Frompovich

There is a universal principle referred to as “atrophy of disuse” which, as far as can be determined, applies to all physiologic processes of the human body. Although a normal full-term infant comes into the world with virtually all of the brain cells (neurons) that it will ever have, the brain continues to grow from increasing numbers of glial (connective tissue) cells and dendrite branching extensions that continue throughout life with mental activity. As an example, the story is told of two sisters who were identical twins and entered a nunnery, one gravitating into administrative work, the other into menial labor. With the passage of years the former remained mentally alert and bright, while the latter lapsed into Alzheimer’s disease from brain atrophy.

As a brief review of Part 1, the human newborn comes into the world with temporary protection from residual maternal antibodies. Otherwise the infant’s immune system is rudimentary, requiring a series of challenges to become fully functional, which is around three years of age. Although the so-called minor childhood diseases of earlier times were looked upon as nuisances (chickenpox and mumps) or potentially dangerous (measles and rubella), they may have evolved as friends-in-disguise by challenging and therefore uniquely activating and strengthening both epithelial and endothelial tissues, their respective organs, and lymph nodes. Those natural diseases also had the advantage of conferring permanent immunity, which is not necessarily the case with vaccines as attested to with revaccination every few years and higher percentages of infectious disease among those vaccinated.

Concerning the dangers of measles, aside from hygiene and sanitation, this largely involves personal disciplines in terms of diet, nutrition, and other health habits in which restriction/avoidance of sugar plays a prominent role along with abundant dietary sources (fresh fruits and vegetables) containing vitamins C and A. Nutrient deficiency may be an underlying reason that flu epidemics tend to occur over holidays, when people are inclined to overindulge in sweet treats and alcoholic beverages, which metabolize like sugar in the body.

There is an experimental basis for demonstrating sugar’s paralyzing effects on the immune system. As demonstrated by Professor Emanuel Cheraskin at the Alabama University Medical School, blood samples were drawn from students before and after drinking a single soft drink (soda). White cells were siphoned from the blood samples and the white cells inoculated with staphylococcus microorganisms. After a period of incubation, the number of staphylococcus phagocytized (engulfed) by the white cells were counted under a microscope. The numbers of engulfed staphylococcus were reduced by more than half following consumption of the soft drink, indicating that the white cells were significantly paralyzed and crippled by that sugar-containing beverage. [1]

Also pertinent was a study conducted in Afghanistan in which 200 children with measles were divided into two groups, one of which received aspirin and Tylenol® to lower fever, the other not receiving aspirin or Tylenol®. The children receiving antipyretics had more prolonged illnesses, more diarrhea, ear infections, respiratory complications such as pneumonia and bronchitis, and higher death rates. [2]

Concerning the chickenpox (varicella) vaccine, articles by Gary Goldman seriously question the advisability of universal varicella vaccination as related to increasing subsequent occurrences of herpes zoster (shingles or zona). [3-4]

The differing functions of the Th1 cellular and Th2 humoral immune systems were summarized in a review article by P. Kidd:

The Th1 cells are hypothesized to lead the attack against intracellular pathogens such as viruses, raise the classic delayed-type to viral and bacterial antigens, and fight cancer cells. The Th2 cells are believed to emphasize protection against extracellular pathogens. On the negative side, the Th1 pathway is often portrayed as being the more aggressive of the two, and when it is overreactive, can generate organ-specific autoimmune disease (e.g. arthritis, multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes). The Th2 pathway is seen as underlying allergy and related IgE disease.” [5]

Regarding vaccines and their propensity toward fostering allergies, Imani and Kehoe found a previously unrecognized side effect of the MMR vaccine by incubating it with a line of human plasma cells, which resulted in increased expression of allergy-related IgE antibodies accompanied by a corresponding decrease in protective IgG antibodies. Based on these findings, the authors concluded that viral vaccines might be playing a role in the increasing incidence of asthma and other allergic diseases. [6]

Much the same also holds true for a causal relationship between vaccines and the rising incidence of juvenile diabetes. In 1998 John Classen, MD, gave a presentation at a conference held by the American College of Medicine in which he reviewed 32 published articles, five authored by himself, indicating a causal relationship between vaccines and the rising incidence of insulin-dependant diabetes mellitus (IDDM). Nations represented in the papers included New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, the USA, and Holland. Single vaccines were used including haemophilus influenza, hepatitis B, pertussis, BCG, and smallpox.

A prototype study was conducted in Finland by Classen and reported in the British Medical Journal. [7] In this study, from all children born in Finland between October 1, 1985 and August 31, 1987, approximately 116,000 were randomized as test subjects to receive four doses of haemophilus vaccine starting at three months of age, or one dose starting at 24 months. Additionally, 125,000 unvaccinated children served as controls. Each group was followed until age 10 years for development of IDDM. The incidence at seven years for those receiving four doses, those receiving one dose, and those receiving none was 261, 237, and 207 respectively with relative risks of 1.2, 1.14, and 1 for those children receiving no vaccine.

In virtually all of the reports from other countries the results were very similar, indicating a slight but consistent increase in IDDM following each of the five single vaccines listed above. Classen interpreted these results as indicating that it was not the type of vaccination that mattered so much as the immunologic impact of vaccination itself. Typically there was a 3 to 5 year delay between vaccines and onset of IDDM.

Quotations by Classen during the 1998 conference included:

“Vaccinating every child against every disease is fundamentally unsound.”

“There is a 3.78-fold increased risk of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus in children from today’s vaccines.”

“All autoimmune diseases are increasing in incidence. General immune (over) stimulation from vaccines is a cause of autoimmunity.“

Genetic Exchanges in the World Around Us

Barbara McClintock, the 1983 Nobel Laureate “Corn Lady,” was the first to discover genetic mobility in the so-called jumping genes in the 1930s. For over 50 years she pursued solitary research with corn, uncovering some of nature’s innermost secrets about life. McClintock studied maize, a form of Indian corn, where distribution of red kernels and yellow kernels is genetically determined. What she first perceived was that some of the genes were moving from one place to another on the cell’s chromosomes (the floating threads on which genes are lined like beads on a string). She then saw patterns in the movements, with sharply differing results in the colored kernels, and realized that some genes, once moved into position, switched other genes on or off. It followed that while most genes were workers, others were controllers or managers of genes.

According to an article in World Medicine [8] scientists at the University of Geneva made the startling discovery that biological substances entering directly into the bloodstream may truly become a part of us, even a part of our genetic material. The article stated in part:

When Japanese bacteriologists discovered that bacteria of one species transferred their own highly specific antibiotic resistance to bacteria of an entirely different species, they seemed to hit on a unique if not startling phenomenon. Dr. Maurice Stroun and Dr. Phillippe Anker, with colleagues in the Plant Physiology Department at the University of Geneva, have now accumulated a wealth of evidence that the transfer of genetic information is not confined to bacteria but also can occur between bacteria and higher plants and animals.

Dr. Stroun and colleagues did most of their research in plants but have now turned to animals. In their latest experiments they used the isolated auricles of frogs’ hearts, [9] from which they dipped RNA extracted from the frog auricles into a bacterial suspension, resulting in a high percentage interlinkage of frog RNA with bacterial DNA.”

The article concluded that the implications of this work on “transcession” are enormous and reflect something that may be commonly taking place in human bodies. From the standpoint of future generations, the possibility that vaccines may be bringing about genetic hybridization in our children may represent far and away the greatest hazard of today’s childhood vaccine programs.

A Case On Point

During June 2011 a great number of German E.coli infections (3,406) and 39 deaths have occurred with suspicions that organically grown bean sprouts are the source of contamination. The findings have vacillated from yes, it was the sprouts to no, it was not the sprouts to now as of this writing, it IS the sprouts.

However, the real issue may be more than bean sprouts, if they truly are the source of contamination and not a scapegoat. It seems the medical profession did not recognize that they were dealing with a rare strain of E.coli, O104:H4.

What most predominantly differentiates O104 from O157 is its adoption of numerous traits not typically found congregated in one strain: Not only does it produce the noxious Shiga toxin of the virulent enterohemorrhagic strains, it also possesses defensive enteroaggregative traits –a combined mouthful of properties much more difficult to tolerate physically than verbally.”

When people come into a hospital with bloody diarrhea, they would normally assume it’s O157 and not give antibiotics to the patients,” he said. “In this case, because it wasn’t O157, the physicians might have thought it was okay to give antibiotics, not knowing that O104 would produce the Shiga toxin.

This potential misunderstanding over antibiotics might at least partially explain the high rate of HUS [hemolytic-uremic syndrome] among the ill. Girón [Jorge Girón, Ph.D., E. coli researcher and associate professor of microbiology at the University of Florida's Emerging Pathogens Institute] said this outbreak may necessitate new screening procedures at hospitals to account for O104 alongside O157, ensuring patients don’t receive antibiotics that could exacerbate their illness or kill them.” [Emphasis added] [11]

The above may be the classic example needed to illustrate the unknowns involved in vaccine pharmacology and morphology, and medicine’s inability or unwillingness to address that aspect of vaccinology.

Are Vaccines Sowing the Seeds of Genetic Change?

As reviewed above, the first six months of an infant’s life is a period of heightened vulnerability because of the infant’s immature and rapidly growing nervous system and highly immature immune system. It is during this time-period that 19 or 20 vaccines are routinely administered, according to officially recommended schedules, irrespective of whether the infant was born prematurely, a condition that apparently predisposes preterm infants to a series of vaccine adverse reactions. [12]

A very revealing study reported in Virus Research tends to support the hypothesis of genetic exchange associated with viral vaccines. In the study of 24 passages of a nuclear polyhedrosis virus through cell cultures, there were both insertions and deletions in the virus, [10] suggesting that the virus freely exchanged genetic material with the tissues in which it was cultured [similar to transcession discussed above].

Considering that today’s vaccines have been incubated in cell cultures of aborted fetuses, monkey kidneys, and other animal tissues, this should give any thinking person pause to consider the possible implications involved in manufacturing, injecting, and receiving vaccines.

Dr. Buttram discusses the immune system and the impact that vaccines have upon it in his book, A Commentary on Current Childhood Vaccine Programs, ISBN: 1-891485-30-X), published in 2010 by Philosophical Publishing Co., PO Box 77, Quakertown, PA 18951, phone 215-538-5300.
